    Arizona Artist Project Grant Application Period for 2010-2011 Now Open

    Apply Today!

    This highly competitive and prestigious grant offers individual artists practicing in all disciplines project-related funding to support research and development leading to the creation of new works of art. See today's azarts417 blog post to learn about changes to the program, including an increase in the total amount of the grant award.

    The Arts Commission remains committed to maintaining support for artists through grants, as it has for 20 years. Artist Project Grant awards have been known to springboard recipients into the next level of their careers as artists, whose business is researching, developing, marketing and delivering their creative product. Through their work with communities, in education and in partnership with local vendors, artists stimulate local economies and improve the quality of life across Arizona.     2010-2011 Application Deadline

    Online Application Deadline: Wednesday, October 20, 2010

    Application materials and artistic work samples must be submitted through the online application at: http://apg.azarts.gov. Please review the guidelines before beginning your application.

    Signature Page Deadline: Wednesday, October 20, 2010

    Signature Page must be completed, signed, and mailed to the Arts Commission offices. The Signature Page must be received by the Arizona Commission on the Arts by 5:00 pm on Wednesday, October 20, 2010.

    Pima Community College West Campus Metals Studio (L130)

    This 2-day workshop focuses on traditional and original methods of setting faceted stones as well as other objects. We will take an in-depth look at a variety of types of settings, including tube settings, flush settings, and prong settings, as well as unique variations of those settings. You will learn how to set faceted stones easily and effectively. You’ll be able to finish at least one ring or pendant as well as samples of other types of settings. All skill levels are welcome, but basic soldering skills will be helpful. Instructor: Charity Hall

    MITATE - A Point of View -  three fiber artists, Judy Harmony, Alice Hill and Loraine Sample will exhibit works inspired by the Japanese Friendship Garden in Phoenix.  Our art will hang out in the garden.  Artists' Reception is Friday, March 5, 2010 - 5:00 to 6:30 PM.  The show will hang week ends begining Feb. 27th.  www.japanesefriendshipgarden.org for direction & hours.

    The AZ CLAY Association is sponsoring its annual juried exhibition, which is open to all clay artists 18 years of age or older who reside in Arizona.  The show will be held at The Bead Museum in Glendale AZ from April 8 - 24, 2010 . You may enter up to 3 works on a CD with 3 views of each work. Detailed info on entering is in the prospectus. The deadline for postmarked entries is March 19. Acceptances will be mailed March 26. The opening reception is Thursday April 8th from 6pm to 8pm. Cash prizes will be awarded and there wiil be an Emerging Artist Award given. Jurors are Jan Peterson and David Tooker. For prospectus, go to arizonaclay.org.
