Using torch firing in a variety of ways, students will make colorful and unique pieces of jewelry. Copper foil sheeting, wire, enamels, cold connections and embellishments will all be used to create layering and unusual effects in enameling. Patinas, texturing, and basic wire and metal applications will also be covered. Many torching technique will be enhanced by adding glass beads, silver foil, resist, sifting, embedding items, stencils,patinas and more. The focus will be the endless possibilities of torch fir e enameling and the benefits of using tab bezels to connect when using enamels.


Mary Hetts is a multi-media fiber artist conducts workshops, sells and exhibits her work throughout the United States. With a continuous specialty in rib construction and sculptural basketry, my range of work has developed over the years to also include jewelry, metals and beadwork. 

BIO: Mary Hettmansperger teaches at Arrowmont, John C. Campbell Folk School, Convergence, Bead & Button, Association of Michigan Basket Makers, fiber conferences, bead societies, basket guilds and state basket conferences. She has had her projects and work published in several magazines and publications, including Beadwork, Bead & Button, Art Jewelry, Shuttle, Spindle & Dyepot.
