This workshop explores unusual ways to set found objects, enamels,  glass, pebbles, stones and pearls in variety of fabricated settings. Build a basket style prong, pearl cup for a baroque pearls or a tab setting for a large cabachon or a found object. The goal of the class is to create a finished mounting and incorporate it into a jewelry design. This is a great class for those who have some experience in soldering and fabrication but need to refine their skills, learn shortcuts in fabrication or learn new approaches for designing with stones. Students should bring favorite unset objects to class and will have the time to complete a project.

 

BIO: Paulette Werger is a metalsmith and teacher who works in Lebanon, NH. She sells her work both nationally and internationally and is owner of Metalpeople East, a jewelry and hollow ware studio She has taught metalsmithing at Carleton College, University of WI, Montana State University, and at craft schools throughout the country. 

Paulette will have a variety of argentium wire gauges, sheet metal, gold wire, gemstones and pearls for sale during the class. 

SKILL LEVEL: Advanced beginner.
